CAN MY CAMPER BRING A CELL PHONE
For many reasons, cell phones are not permitted at Camp Haluwasa. Cell phones can be damaged, misplaced or lost. Improper use of cell phone cameras combined with internet access creates a serious personal privacy and liability issue for parents and campers.
DOES MY CAMPER NEED SPENDING MONEY?
Please do not send cash with your camper. Prior to camp, you can add spending money to your camper’s “Bank Card” which they will use to make purchases throughout the week. This bank card can be used at each of our camp stores. Balances remaining at the end of the week will be returned to our camper’s parents during Friday pick up.
Note: For overnight sessions, if you have not applied money to your camper’s bank card prior to arrival you will not be able to use our “Express Lines” during check-in.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO WITH MY CAMPER’S MEDICATIONS?
The following policies are in keeping with state requirements for youth camps: Camper medications (including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and supplements) must be given to the camp Medical Director at check-in. Be sure to label all medications for your campers, provide only enough for the week and bring medications in the original containers. When dropping off medications to the Medical Director, please provide written and detailed instructions for administration.
WHAT IF MY CAMPER IS SICK?
Please do not bring a camper to camp that is experiencing a sickness. Your camper will not be able to enjoy the mental and physical challenges of camping while sick. Campers we determine to be sick upon arrival or during their stay will be sent home.
WHAT IS THE CAMP CANCELLATION POLICY?
In the case that your camper cannot attend their scheduled week(s), one of only three options is available:
- An alternative week in the current season may be substituted based on availability.
- Another camper may be substituted.
- If the balance due has already been paid and Haluwasa, Inc. receives written notice at least 7 days before the schedule camp week begins, the balance will be refunded.
ARE CAMP PHOTOS AVAILABLE?
Camp photos will be available for purchase on Friday for $5 each. They may also be pre-ordered via our online registration system.

Overnight Camp Questions
WHEN SHOULD I DROP OFF MY CAMPER? (OVERNIGHT)
Check-In for Overnight Camp takes place on Sundays between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm.
Note: Early arrival will not result in early check-in.
WHEN CAN I MEET MY CAMPER’S COUNSELOR?
Our Meet the Counselor Session takes place every Sunday near our registration area from 2:30 to 2:45 pm. This is the only opportunity for counselors to meet with parents. After 3 pm, all counselors will be supervising campers.
CAN MY CAMPER’S FRIEND BE IN THE SAME CABIN, TENT, OR TEEPEE?
We want campers to be with their friends; however, campers must be in the same age group to be together due to the arrangement of our programs. To request that your camper be in the same cabin, tent, or teepee as another camper, make a cabin partner request in the appropriate field of the camper registration form.
WILL MY CAMPER NEED DINNER ON FRIDAY?
Campers will be served dinner before Friday dismissal. Friends and family are welcome to purchase snacks from our Snack Shop which is open before, during and after the closing program.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I PICK UP MY CAMPER ON FRIDAY?
We welcome parents, friends, and extended family to attend our closing program which begins at 6 pm on Friday evening. Campers and their luggage will not be available for pick up until after the closing program at 6:30 pm. If you need to pick up your camper early, you must give at least 24-hour notice to the Main Office.
Day Camp Questions
WHEN SHOULD I DROP OFF MY CAMPER? (DAY CAMP)
Drop off for day campers is between 7:00 am and 8:30 am each morning.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS MY CAMPER FOR A DAY OF CAMP?
Due to the nature of camp activities, a camper may get dirty or wet during the course of the day. For these reasons, campers should bring a bathing suit, towel, and a change of clothing to camp daily. Please dress your camper appropriately for the weather. Please do not dress camper’s inexpensive clothing. Haluwasa cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.
IS LUNCH PROVIDED?
Lunch is provided for all campers and is included in camp tuition.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I PICK UP MY CAMPER?
Pick up takes place in our picnic area from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. On Friday, we ask that you pick up your campers prior to 5:30 pm due to overnight closing activities. If you need to pick up your camper early, you must give at least two hours notice to the Main Office.
Note: There will be a $20 charge each time a camper is picked up after 6:15 pm.
WHICH DAY IS THE FORT ADVENTURE FIELD TRIP?
Fort Adventure will have an optional field trip each Thursday. In order for your child to participate, we must have a new signed permission slip each week for each camper.
